DeKalb County officials warning restaurants of YouTuber impersonating a health inspector

DeKalb County officials are putting local restaurants on alert after a YouTuber was caught impersonating a health inspector during a filmed prank. The county says the man, who records his visits for online views, is breaking state law by pretending to hold official authority.

According to a statement from the DeKalb County Board of Health, the individual enters restaurants claiming to be a sanitation inspector, then proceeds to ask staff questions and inspect kitchen areas. The board says the man has been identified and is known to post edited videos of these encounters on his channel. While the prank may seem harmless to some, officials stress that impersonating a public health officer is a serious offense under Georgia law.

The health department has sent out an advisory to all licensed food service establishments in the county. The notice reminds owners and managers that all legitimate inspectors carry official photo identification and arrive in county vehicles. Restaurants are urged to ask for ID before allowing anyone into back-of-house areas. If someone refuses to show credentials, staff should call local law enforcement immediately.

Officials also warn that the YouTuber's actions could create real public safety risks. A fake inspector might give incorrect advice or cause confusion about food safety protocols. The county is asking anyone who encounters this individual to report the incident rather than engage with him on camera. No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is ongoing, and charges could include criminal impersonation and obstruction of official duties.
