Connecticut environmental officials have issued an urgent health advisory for Great Hill Pond in Portland, urging the public to stay out of the water due to the presence of dangerous bacteria. The state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced the warning after routine testing revealed levels of harmful microorganisms that pose a significant risk to human health.

According to officials, the contamination was detected during a recent water quality assessment.
