Clorox Chief Executive Officer Linda Rendle is leaving her role due to health reasons, ending a tenure that spanned more than 20 years with the cleaning products giant. The company announced the leadership change on Monday, stating that Rendle's departure is effective immediately.
Rendle, who took the top job in 2020, guided Clorox through a period of significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a major cyberattack in 2023 that disrupted operations. Under her leadership, the company navigated supply chain disruptions and shifting consumer demand for disinfectants and cleaning supplies.
The board has appointed current board member and former executive Eric Reynolds as interim CEO. Reynolds, a veteran of the company with deep experience in its core business lines, will oversee day-to-day operations while the board conducts a search for a permanent successor.
Rendle expressed gratitude for her time at the company, noting that the decision was difficult but necessary for her personal well-being. She did not specify the exact nature of her health issues. Clorox emphasized that the transition is orderly and that the company remains focused on its long-term growth strategy, including innovation in its cleaning and lifestyle brands. The news comes as Clorox works to fully recover from the 2023 cyberattack, which caused significant sales losses and operational setbacks.
